Just 10 days before the start of the new season Frances Tiafoe made an unexpected decision. The American number 16 announced the split from her coach Wayne Ferreira, with whom she had been working since 2020. A separation that the 25-year-old from Hyattsville made known via a post on Instagram: "I just wanted to say thank you to this guy.

We shared three years together... we had a lot of successes. But unfortunately we decided to separate. I thank him for allowing me to become the player I am today. I have nothing but love and respect for you. My friend Wayne Ferreira," he wrote.

Replacing the South African coach will be Diego Moyano, an Argentine coach of great prestige on the circuit who, recently, has worked with Kevin Anderson and Cori Gauff, among others.

Tiafoe shares surprising words also during the season

Tiafoe is known not only for the results achieved in recent seasons, but also for the show he puts on during his matches.

"I don't think it's incompatible to go onto the pitch with the utmost ambition and compete hard with being able to have fun, involve the fans and put on a bit of a show. Smiling on the court gives me a special boost and energy and I think I should use the competitive spirit I have in this competition in all the events I participate in.

I know to win I have to be aggressive, hit the ball in front and play above the baseline, but sometimes it's nice to have a little creativity and improvisation. I think I have a perfect personality for team events and I know I can contribute many things because I am one of the best in the world," he declared a few months ago at the Laver Cup.

Tiafoe, with his countryman Ben Shelton and Taylor Fritz, will be one of the North American tennis player who will seek for a good result at the upcoming Australian Swing, trying to improve the results of 2023 tennis season.
