Carlos Alcaraz achieved his first victory at the ATP Finals, following the defeat suffered in the first round robin match against Alexander Zverev. After a decidedly complicated start in response, the Spanish champion became absolute master of the court and overwhelmed Andrey Rublev in the second set.

A fundamental success to continue dreaming of access to the semifinals of the Masters Tournament. To qualify, however, he will have to deal with Daniil Medvedev. The Russian beat him in the semifinals at the US Open on September 9th, displaying a very high level of play.

At the press conference, Alcaraz talked about many issues, including the tournament, the match won and his rivals: "I think I played a good match and I think the key was to show my true game. I wanted to do this regardless of the result: I did it quite well.

I'm happy to have won today. Beating Rublev, a great player, gives you a lot of confidence. Obviously it's special to win a game after losing one. It was really hard for me. I have struggled with my level in the last few months and in the last few tournaments.

Playing a match expressing this level helps me in view of the next match. I'm happy to have expressed this level; a victory that still gives me a chance in this tournament. I will try to do my best and beat Daniil Medvedev. He defeated me last time at the US Open.

I will have to do better considering both the positive and negative aspects of that match." Alcaraz finally revealed that he saw the match between Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner: "I saw the match as a big tennis fan. It was one of the best matches of the year, very high quality.

I think everyone had fun. It was truly incredible. It would be tough for me to face Jannik in Italy. The public supports him incredibly, but we'll see. I like playing these battles. The matches between us are always fantastic. Sinner can win a Slam in 2024, I have no doubt.

He is one of those tennis players capable of winning Majors. I believe he will become number one in 2024 or at least he can get the opportunity to become one. That's my prediction."
