It seems that this year's tournament in China will be marked by many surprises. After the second and third players on the ATP list were eliminated at the tournament in Beijing, surprises are happening in Shanghai as well. The fifth tennis player in the world, Holger Rune, already in the second round, his first match, ended his participation at the Masters in Shanghai.

Brendon Nakashima was better than him 6:0, 6:2 in just over an hour. Really unexpected defeat of Rune, regardless the result is the one that tied the most, because the fifth player of the world Rune won only two games in two sets.

Really amazing. Rune from Wimbledon did not win until Beijing, struggled with his back and had six defeats, but in the capital of China he beat Auger-Aliassime and then lost to Dimitrov. We hope that this really good tennis will find the form we are used to and that he will quickly fully recover from this inconvenient injury.

He seemed to have broken his form. He himself announced that he could slowly start getting back in shape, but now a debacle unworthy of an elite player has happened. Surely the biggest surprise of the day. The only hint of a return to the match occurred at the beginning of the second set – Rune led 1:0, then missed his only break point in the match, and until the end Nakashima was superior.

It was not nice to see such a renowned tennis player lose in such a way.

Lots of surprises at this year's tournament in China

There were still interesting matches, however, everything was expected to some extent in those matches.

After an uncertain first set, Kasper Rud defeated Yoshihito Nishioka with 7:5, 6:0 and in the third round American Chris Eubanks is waiting for him, who defeated the German Janik Hanfman with 4:6, 6:3, 6:2. Felix Auger-Aliasim continues with bad games, now he lost to Marton Fučović with 7:6 (7-3), 4:6, 6:3, Hsu surprised Lorenzo Musetti with 6:3, 6:4, while Ben Shelton was better than Jaume Munar with 6:4, 6:4.

This year's tournament in China really offers some unexpected results, but the audience certainly likes a few surprises, because the competition wouldn't even be interesting without that. Anyway, it was certain that this might be the best tournament in China so far, considering the unpredictability of the winners.
