Some media reported that Maria Sharapova was once in a love relationship with Novak Djokovic. However, the news went unnoticed, so it's really strange that Sharapova came forward on her own to explain what it was about. That fact alone led to the suspicion that there were no sparks of love between them, of course the event was 15 years ago and they were both very young.

Maria Sharapova confirmed that on one occasion she went out to dinner with Novak Djokovic, but also mentioned that the reason for that was a bet. "Oh my god... I have this crazy story with Novak," the Russian recalled the event from 15 years ago during a guest appearance on Rene Stubbs' podcast.

"I remember at that time we won our first Grand Slam titles, he was still breaking through, trying to get to the top, but his body couldn't keep up with his game at that time," Sharapova recalled, as the whole event moves in 2008 or 2009"

Novak Djokovic actually made a bet with her, if Sharapova should go to dinner with him

Then she explained with a smile that Novak was the initiator of that evening, because he wanted to make a bet right in the evening.

But the question really remains whether it was a completely ordinary dinner. These are two very famous faces in Tennis, perhaps the best ever in their categories. It is easy to conclude what kind of popularity they have when an event from 15 years ago arouses public interest.

"We played an exhibition match in Indian Wells, I don't remember exactly what the bet was, but he said, 'If I win, we'll go to dinner.' I was in the mood: 'Okay, no problem, it will definitely happen' In the end he won and said: 'That's right!

We're going out for dinner,' and it was all very fun," she said and added: "At one point he even asked me if we could take a picture." It is known that they hung out at that time, and even older tennis fans surely remember that the Russian visited Djokovic's matches, especially at Wimbledon.
