Caroline Wozniacki's dream come back: what a win in Montreal!
Caroline Wozniacki's dream come back: what a win in Montreal!

At the WTA 1000 in Montreal, Elina Svitolina, who has been showing her best tennis for weeks, falls at the debut of the Canadian tournament. It is the American Danielle Collins who beats the Wimbledon semifinalist: double 6-2 is the final result.

A perfect match for the tennis player coming from the qualifications, who will face the number eight seed, Maria Sakkari, in the second round. Kasatkina also wins against Mertens with a 6-4, 6-2, but the stage is all for Caroline Wozniacki.

The Danish tennis player returns after a three-year break and she wins her first match against Birrell: 6-2, 6-2 is the result in favor of the Grand Slam champion.

Andy Murray beats Lorenzo Sonego in Toronto

Lorenzo Sonego is defeated in the first round of the ATP Masters 1000 in Toronto: at the Canadian Open, Andy Murray wins with the result of 7-6, 6-0.

He starts with a first set with few winners and many mistakes. This is the storyline of both players' service games. Sonego struggles a lot, given that his game setting leads the Briton to play his favorite shot, the backhand.

He saves himself with his serve and taking advantage of the mistakes of the former world number one: he too does not spare himself with free kicks, sons of the wind and more. There are break points, but both Murray and Sonego are good at saving themselves.

To complicate matters, however, it is the British himself: at 5-4, he delivers two set points to the Italian, with two double faults at the start of the game. He cancels them both, dwells on draws but keeps his serve. The natural outcome is the tie-break.

It starts with a mistake on both sides of the net, but then Murray starts playing another level of tennis and wins the first set. The first break of the match comes at the beginning of the second set and is in favor of the three-time tournament winner 1000.

It is not the only break: another one follows, always in favor of the Grand Slam champion. The quality of the Briton's shots doesn't change much, if not showing his great defensive skills. The errors of the Italian tennis player are increasing, who gets into confusion mainly because of the score. The match point on the Italian's serve says everything about the progress of the whole match.
