Bouchard: "I would have started having children if..."

Bouchard, after almost a year and a half of absence from the WTA circuit due to a bad shoulder injury, she has recently returned to play regularly in the top professional tournaments.

Despite the lack of results in recent years, the former world number 5 (now slipped to 292nd in the WTA world rankings) wants to try again to climb the rankings. The 29-year-old managed to qualify for the round of 16 of the Copa Colsanitas in April, after exiting in the qualifying rounds at the Asb Classic and the Australian Open.

Eugenie then concentrated on the clay court season, competing in the 1000 in Madrid and Rome. In a recent media interview, the Canadian said: "Of course I still see myself fighting for a title. I wouldn't have taken all these efforts and time to come back if I didn't believe in it anymore.

Coming back from an injury requires a lot of patience, a lot of time and energy. I'm doing it because I think I'm still able to get back on top, if I didn't believe it I would have focused on something else, like having kids or something," she stressed.

Then she added and concluded: "Going back to playing was a very long process and I thought it was really worth it. In the end I decided yes because I would regret if I ended my career due to an injury. Now I am more motivated than ever."
