The Roland Garros 2023 is almost upon us and there is great anticipation for the main clay event, the second Grand Slam tournament of the year. There will be no outgoing champion Rafael Nadal and there is great curiosity about who will be his heir.

From Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz up to Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Musetti, there are many favorites for the tournament and the former tennis player Boris Becker intervened commenting on the story. The former number one spoke on the microphones of the Podcast Das Gelbe Vom Ball on Eurosport and gave his opinion on who could triumph in Paris.

Here are his words: "I think the climate and the weather in general will also play a very important role. When it's hot, the red clay of Paris will become totally like a clay court and Nole could be happy with it. When it's cold and rainy the court becomes much more difficult and Novak struggles more than other tennis players.

A lot will obviously depend on the draw but the weather will also play a key role in his entry into the tournament."

Becker spoke of the possible challenge between Djokovic and the rising youngsters of NextGen and clarified: "A lot will depend on the draw and it will be necessary to understand when there will be a clash between Nole and the most interesting youngsters of NextGen." To tell the truth, the draw was not particularly lucky for former number one Novak Djokovic: the Serbian tennis player will face the Russian Andrey Rublev in the quarterfinals while in the semifinals Nole will most likely face the current world number one Carlos Alcaraz.

On the other side of the draw, the favorites are the two finalists at the Internazionali d'Italia in Rome, the Russian Daniil Medvedev and the Danish Holger Rune. Or possibly the blue tennis player Jannik Sinner, candidate to be one of the favorites in the Parisian tournament. Roland Garros is upon us and Novak Djokovic will have to face new young and hungry rivals.
