Iga Swiatek dominated 2022. After Ash Barty's retirement from tennis, with the delivery of the top of the WTA ranking to the Polish tennis player, the latter never left that position, grinding successes after successes. A dominance in the first part of the season, with the victory of three consecutive 1000 titles: Doha and the Sunshine Doubles, Indian Wells and Miami.
Then, the two Grand Slam titles: first the Roland Garros, beating Coco Gauff in the final, then the Us Open, defeating the world number two Ons Jabeur. For all these goals and for her commitment to the Ukrainian cause in terms of war moved by Russia, the three-time Grand Slam champion is among the 100 most influential personalities in the world according to Time, as reported by the US magazine.
This year she is in the company of a series of important sportsmen: Brittney Griner, Patrick Mahomes, Kylian Mbappé, Lionel Messi and Mikaela Shiffrin.
