New life for Angelique Kerber: she became a mother!

Speaking to the WTA microphones, Angelique Kerber, when she was still pregnant, had tried to imagine her come back, which presumably will arrive towards the end of this season and the beginning of next. "I don't know what time or what tournament because I really want to take my time," said the three-time Grand Slam champion.

She then added: "And when I come back, I want to be 100 percent back, fit and feel great. That's the plan." Kerber could return to the court as a new mother, like many other tennis players have done before her. The precedents are illustrious, such as Serena Williams, Victoria Azarenka and Kim Clijsters; the first two with Grand Slam finals reached; the last with the victory of three Grand Slam titles.

"When you talk to them now, be more careful to listen to what they say. It is clear that mothers can come back, even winning important titles. And I hope I can be one of them too, which is an inspiration for young mothers and women going back to their jobs,” she said.

Then Happened! Angelique Kerber has become a mother! The German tennis player had announced the forfeit at the US Open with a beautiful caption. "I really wanted to play the US Open, but I understood that playing two against one is not fair competition,"she wrote on social media.

Nine months later, the Slam champion gave the announcement of her new motherhood: "Welcome to our family, Liana. Having you with us is the most beautiful and overwhelming feeling we could have ever imagined." The announcement on Instagram got congratulations from figures from the world of sport and beyond: from Ana Ivanovic ("Congratulations, I'm happy for you") to Carla Suarez Navarro ("Congratulations", wrote another mother-to-be) , passing through the hearts of another Grand Slam champion who became a mother, Caroline Wozniacki.
