Very bad news has hit the tennis world in these hours. Former Czech naturalized American champion Martina Navratilova has announced that she has been diagnosed with double cancer, one in the throat and one in the breast, both in the first stage.
Two separate tumors but which stop the champion's career, with the former tennis player thus having to close the possibility of doing commentary at the Australian Open. It all started during the WTA Finals last November with the former tennis player who had noticed some throat problems.
From there the harsh sentence, throat cancer and a few days later she was diagnosed with a second breast cancer. This is not the first time for the tennis player, who, already back in 2013, ten years ago, she accused of breast cancer.
The woman will not work with the Tennis Channel and she will be busy with treatments, which she will begin immediately, in New York. During her career Martina has won 59 Grand Slam titles, divided between singles, doubles and mixed doubles, for a career that is nothing short of extraordinary and which catalogs her as one of the strongest athletes of all time.
Martina Navratilova's words on the matter
The woman, 67 years old next October, recounted her impressions to the microphones of the official channels of the WTA and reported: "This double blow is really serious but it is something that can be solved.
I hope that in the end all this has a favorable outcome. Obviously it will be hard at the beginning, but I will fight with everything I have." Already ten years ago Navratilova had to deal with the tumor and Martina recalled that on that occasion she did not let herself be discouraged, she burst into tears for only 15 seconds but immediately after he asked his doctor: "Now what do we do? What will be the next step." The editorial staff of Sport World News wishes her a speedy recovery and that Martina Navratilova can recover from all this as soon as possible.
