Emma Raducanu on what it will be: "I want to understand"

Emma Raducanu has undoubtedly been one of the biggest surprises in the world of tennis in recent years. The British tennis player had a sensational exploit at the Us Open 2021 where she, as an authentic unknown, beat all her opponents and conquered the Grand Slam title.

A resounding success considering that Emma had won very few matches on the Tour and a story that seemed to have just begun. From that moment, on the one hand probably the great expectations and on the other hand her physical problems, Raducanu had a clear decline, she did not achieve great results and indeed collapsed again in the standings.

Emma changed coaches and staff several times and ended 2022 in full crisis. This year she didn't go beyond the second round at the Australian Open and at Roland Garros (despite a seeded draw) while at the US Open she didn't repeat herself at all with a surprising debut against the French Alize Corner.

In these days Raducanu is at work to better prepare for next season.

Emma is one of the protagonists of the Mubadala World Tennis Championship 2022, an exhibition tournament where some of the best tennis players around compete against each other.

Raducanu will make her debut and she will face world number two Ons Jabeur. A very difficult test but one that will help everyone and even Emma herself to understand her physical and mental condition. In the press conference, Raducanu talked about her condition and her future ambitions: "It's been a while since the last tournament, I'm trying to spend more time on the pitch and I can't wait to play." Then she continued: "I think the point of this competition is to be able to play a match before the start of next season and I think that in this way I will be able to understand the improvements and at what level of competitiveness I am currently at." And what can she achieve in 2023?
