The stage of the US Open was the most complicated in this sense. As the world number two returned to play Flushing Meadows, his wife had been forced to undergo surgery due to a complicated pregnancy. The same problem that led Rafael Nadal to play only one Laver Cup match: at the end of September, the double with Roger Federer in the last match of the Swiss tennis player before the definitive retirement.
