Paul Pogba injured in the meniscus: surgery and out two months

Frenchman Paul Pogba, who returned to Juventus after a six-year stint at Manchester United, was forced last Saturday to abort training with his Juventus teammates at Loyola Marymouth University in Los Angeles due to a knee problem.

The injury seemed minor, but Juventus had to subject the French midfielder to radiological examinations. The investigations revealed a lesion of the lateral meniscus of the right knee. In the next few hours Pogba will undergo a specialist consultation, with a very likely surgery, which will force Pogba to stay out for at least two months.

Juventus will play against Barcelona in the penultimate match in the USA of the bianconeri who will then also face Real Madrid. Juventus hopes to have the midfielder back on top for the match against Roma, scheduled for Saturday 27 August at the Allianz Stadium, but in the event of surgery he will be back in early October.

Pogba's words

The French midfielder world champion in 2018 was launched by Juventus in 2012, remaining in Turin until summer 2016, when he returned to England for 105 million euros. Pogba spoke in his presentation press conference, and he said: "I don't think returning to Manchester United was a mistake.

I believe in destiny, I'm happy with all the choices I've made. Sometimes things don't go as you would like, but I'm happy with these years in Manchester: I've grown, I learned a lot and became a man. Now the present counts: I'm here.

Other teams wanted me too, but it was my heart that chose Juventus. Here I was fine, I felt good to come back and I want to do well when we start I can't wait to get started, I want to help the team and I want to do even better than I did in my first experience.

I missed the Juventus fans, the fans here are special. I also felt the affection from the Manchester fans of course! I have more experience than before, I know my body. I learned a lot at United, now I can also help the younger players and the team.

Even when I was at United I talked a lot with Allegri, I always had a good relationship. We have had wonderful years together, this was the right time to come back here with the right person on the bench. The messages from the Juventus fans have always pleased me, but I was focused on United."
