Cristiano Ronaldo: "ten Hag? Happy with his arrival, but let's give him time"

Cristiano Ronaldo talked about Erik ten Hag, the next Manchester United manager. The Portuguese star said on the Manchester United official website: "We are happy and excited, not only as players but also as fans. He has done a fantastic job at Ajax and is an experienced manager.

However we have to give him time. Things have to change. as he wants. If he does well, all of Manchester United will be successful. I wish ten Hag the best and we believe we will win trophies next year." Cristiano Ronaldo was elected Premier League player of the month in April.

With his hat-trick against Norwich CR7 he has scored 100 Premier League goals. He said on Instagram: "I am as happy to win today as I was in my early days, the hunger for victory and achievement never fades. Thanks to everyone who made it possible." On 27 August 2021 Manchester Utd announced that they had reached an agreement with Juventus for the return of Ronaldo.

The transfer is finalized four days later on the basis of 15 million euros plus 8 million bonuses, with the Portuguese signing a two-year contract with an option for the third year. On 11 September, at his debut, the Portuguese scored twice in the Premier League match won 4-1 against Newcastle Utd.

Three days later, taking the field in the Uefa Champions League match against Young Boys, he reaches Iker Casillas at the top of the table of appearances in the top European club competition. The following 2 December scored a brace in the 3-2 victory over Arsenal which allowed him to reach and exceed 800 career goals.

After a start to the season in which he scored 14 goals in 20 appearances, in the months of January and February 2022, he suffered a decline in scoring, not scoring for six consecutive games, in fact, starting from the match on 3 January 2022 against Wolverhampton, in which he wears the reds captain's armband for the first time in 14 years, following the absence of Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes, he does not find the way to goal until February 25, 2022, when he scores a goal in the championship match against the Brighton.

His negative record stands at 587 consecutive minutes without goals. The following month, on 12 March, he scored a hat-trick in a 3-2 home win against Tottenham, thanks to which he overtook Josef Bican to become the most prolific scorer in the history of football; while on 24 April, scoring a goal in the 3-1 away defeat against Arsenal, he reached 100 goals in the Premier League, consequently becoming the first to reach this milestone in two of the major European leagues.
