Atletico Madrid's Moussa Dembele collapsed in training earlier this year and needed medical intervention. Dembele was warming up and stretching before he lost consciousness. Teammates quickly reacted as they alerted the medical staff and after they saw Dembele motionless on the ground.
Dembele was rolled onto his side as other members of the squad rushed to the ambulance to grab a stretcher. After just more than a minute, Dembele regained consciousness and he was able to bget back to his feet and eventually walk off the pitch without any assistance.
Now several months later, Dembele is fine.
Dembele's Atletico Madrid suffered a disappointing loss
On Wednesday, Altetico Madrid lost to Milan 0-1 at home after a late goal scored by Junior Messias. Messias, 30, made his professional debut three years ago as he moved to Italy to work as a delivery driver before ascending the ranks of Italian football in his late twenties.
"His story is wonderful," Milan coach Stefano Pioli told Amazon Prime Video Italia. "But I think this is just the beginning for him, because he has real quality. "He had some difficulties when he first arrived, but now will really help the team.
"They played with quality and courage, they always believed in themselves and it's right now that I celebrate with them. "This is the right path and tonight we saw an important show of this team's maturity." If Milan beat Porto at home in their last group stage match, they will progress into the knockout stage.
"I am optimistic, I always was and I will not change," Pioli added. "The team will compete well. I have no doubt that the Champions League does not forgive you, and who deserves it makes it. "Milan can win at home, Porto at home and we away.
Whoever deserves it will win." Legendary Milan manager Arrigo Sacchi was full of praise of Pioli and Milan after their win over Atletico Madrid. “Pioli’s Milan beat Atletico and now they have hope. The match was balanced in the first half, with few chances for both sides.
The second half was like the first until Ibrahimovic entered, who gave the Rossoneri confidence and energised the match," Sacchi stated. “Pioli’s men had the chance after a few minutes to score with Bakayoko, but the shot was weak and straight at the keeper.
However, they did not lose confidence and on a magnificent cross from Kessie, Messias rushed in, scoring. AC Milan got their revenge for the undeserved defeat at San Siro. They are on the right path."
