Eldor Shomurodov signed for Roma for 20 million euros!

Roma wanted Roma Sardar Azmoun, but failed to reach an agreement with Zenit. So they turned to Genoa striker Eldor Shomurodov and in a few days reached an agreement with Genoa. Now the transfer has been officially confirmed, the 26-year-old football player from Uzbekistan has signed a contract with Roma until the summer of 2026, while the team from Luigi Ferraris will receive 17,500,000 euros, with an additional 2,500,000 through bonuses, as well as 10 percent of the next sales.

The transfer was formulated as a loan with the right of redemption, Roma have to pay 17,500,000 euros, so the striker also initialed five-year cooperation with the club. Eldor Shomurodov arrived in Genoa last summer as a replacement for Krzysztof Piatek.

He did not shine in the first part of the season, but when he adapted, he showed that Serie A suits him very well. He scored a total of eight goals in 31 official matches in the Genoa jersey. He arrived in Italy from Rostov, Russia, for which he scored 18 goals in 91 appearances during the four seasons spent at the club.

Before that, he defended the colors of Bunyodkor and Mash'al Mubarek in his homeland.

Roma's reinforcments

Since 2015, he has been a member of the Uzbekistan national team, for which he recorded 44 appearances and scored 21 goals, so he is currently in fifth place in the list of the best scorers in the history of Uzbekistan (the same number of goals, but almost three times more appearances have Krasnodar player Odil Ahmedov).

Shomurodov is Roma's third reinforcement this summer after right-back Bryan Reynolds (Dallas) and goalkeeper Rui Patricio(Wolverhampton). Wolves set aside 44,750,000 euros for reinforcements, including 9,000,000 euros for the purchase of the contract of Roger Ibanez, who spent last season on loan at the club from Atalanta.

The club from Olympique has so far earned only 1,220,000 euros, for the loans of Pau Lopez and Cengiz Under, who moved to the ranks of Olympique Marseille. Numerous more Roma businesses are expected on the transfer market, the priorities are hiring a left-back who will replace the injured Leonard Spinazzola, as well as a midfielder - the club's first wish is Granit Xhaka from Arsenal, although the Swiss have an offer from Gunners to extend cooperation.

Mourinho seems to have serious plans for next season when he will try to secure the Champions League with Roma, and who knows, maybe he will try to achieve something more.
