Ronald Koeman believes his team is not good enough

Atletico Madrid dropped a lot of points during the second part of the season, which Barcelona and Real Madrid could use. But neither Real nor Barça took advantage of that, so Cholo's team got serious in the finish and were the first to pass through the goal of the Primera.

The 11th title of the champion of Spain Atletico won, and among the most deserving is the Uruguayan veteran Luis Suarez, the scorer of 21 goals, especially the last one which brought them a trophy, after yesterday's 2: 1 victory over Valladolid.

Barcelona rejected him last summer and literally said goodbye to him, but the fantastic goal scorer made them scratch their heads. Especially Ronald Koeman, who decided that he did not need such a player, the Dutchman, however, seemed to have forgotten about that move.

Koeman on the season

At the end of the last round, the Barcelona coach gave a brief analysis of the season in which his team won the Copa del Rey, finished third in the championship, and reached the eighth-finals of the Champions League, where they were convincingly eliminated by Paris Saint-Germain.

"We were in the race for the title, but we lost two or three important games. The team is young, but we grew as a team and that's a positive thing. We want to win everything, but in life, you can't always win," Koeman pointed out in front of Spanish journalists.

At the beginning of 2021, the Catalans looked the best this season, however, when it was most important, they did not succeed. PSG beat them 4: 1 at the Camp Nou, Real Madrid 2: 1, and when they could take over the top of the table from Atletico, they played 0: 0 with them, then 3: 3 with Levante and lost 1: 2 to Celta.

"The problem is that since January we have managed to catch up and win the Copa del Rey in a great way. People connected with the team and they forgave us for the previous results, but we did not use that and did not take the leading position when we could."

"This season should serve us as a lesson. If someone in August offered me to win the Copa del Rey and fight for the title until the finish, I would say yes." Barcelona rejected him last summer and literally said goodbye to him, but the fantastic goal scorer made them scratch their heads.

Especially Ronald Koeman, who decided that he did not need such a player, the Dutchman, however, seemed to have forgotten about that move. "During the season the expectations were too high and I don't think this season was bad at all.

Far from it. It's not the best, but you can't always ask for a 'double trophy', nor can you ask it from a team like this," the Dutchman said, opening a topic that is for deeper analysis.
