RB Leipzig announces transfer: Mohamed Simakan arrives in the summer

Another great victory of Leipzig on the football market was made official today - Mohamed Simakan (20) initialed a five-year contract with Red Bull Leipzig. Aware that they will lose Dayot Upamecano in the summer at the latest, who set a relatively low exit clause as a condition for extending his contract last year (42,500,000), the leaders of the youngest German Bundesliga started looking for a replacement in late December.

It became known that they took a serious bite out of Simakan only when Milan showed their interest in the Strasbourg defender.
Seeing that they could be left without their first pick, the Bulls added gas, concretized their interest, soon took the lead in that race with the Italians, and they finished a job worth 17,000,000 euros last week.

The Germans write that bonuses are included in that number Simakan is quite similar in characteristics to the new Bayern player Dayot Upamecano. He is a mobile defender, fast, he can also cover the right flank, and he manages decently as a defensive midfielder.

There should be no problems with the adaptation since his compatriots Ibrahim Konate and Nordi Mukiele are waiting for him in Leipzig.

Other signings

This is the third signing of RB Leipzig for the 2021/22 season. Before Simakan, Joško Gvardiol arrived from Zagreb's Dinamo for 16,000,000 euros (although he remained on loan among the Blues until the end of the current season), while Ajax striker Brian Brobbey arrives as a free agent.

As an official signing for next season, the Spaniard Angelino is also treated as such, since he is on loan until the end of the season. The German club will pay Manchester City 18,000,000 euros for him. Not a bad market in times of crisis: 50,000,000 euros were set aside for four extremely talented guys.

RB Leipzig is known for good transfers. Their transfer policy is based on buying young players who have huge potential and then after a couple of seasons the club sells them because it is obvious that besides bigger clubs they can hardly stay in RB Leipzig.

This policy has brought them good results so far. They have been doing well in the Bundesliga for a couple of seasons, where they are in the top 4, and this season they are also fighting for the title. Really amazing for a club that was founded some 12 years ago.
