Juventus bought Weston McKennie outright from Schalke 04. The American midfielder, who arrived last summer from the German club on a loan (3.5 million euros) with the right of redemption set at 18.5, convinced the Juventus club thanks to 5 goals achieved so far in 31 appearances and many excellent performances provided in different positions on the pitch.
Juventus, in a press release published on its official website, explained the details of the operation. Juventus Football Club S.p.A. announces that it has exercised the option right for the definitive acquisition of the sports performances of the player Weston McKennie, from the German club FC Gelsenkirchen-Schalke 04 e.V., for a consideration of € 18.5 million, payable in three financial years.
Upon the occurrence of certain conditions during the duration of the sports performance contract with the player, a consideration of up to an additional € 6.5 million may accrue in favor of Schalke. Juventus had signed a sports performance contract with the same player until 30 June 2025.
As a central midfielder, he stands out for his aggressiveness in pressing, for the insertions without the ball and for the intensity with which he plays. On 29 August 2020, the loan was loaned to Juventus for a consideration of 4.5 million euros, with the obligation to redeem, upon the occurrence of certain conditions, for 18.5 million (plus 7 million bonuses).
