Jurgen Klopp shocked the football world by deciding to leave Liverpool at the end of the season. After 9 years on this team, the German expert decided to say goodbye to an era in his career and devote himself to other things. What is interesting is that there were no indications that Klopp would actually make such a decision. Speaking to Liverpool's YouTube channel, Klopp discussed the reasons behind his decision. It seems that the German expert got tired of the daily adrenaline, travel, and everything that football brings with it. He needs a rest at the moment.

"I can understand that it’s a shock for a lot of people in this moment, when you hear it for the first time, but obviously I can explain it – or at least try to explain it.

I love absolutely everything about this club, I love everything about the city, I love everything about our supporters, I love the team, I love the staff. I love everything. But that I still take this decision shows you that I am convinced it is the one I have to take."- he said, as reported by

“It is that I am, how can I say it, running out of energy."

He assures everyone that there's no immediate issue, but he's known for a while that he'd eventually have to make this decision.

Klopp talks about how he's in good spirits and reflects on the years of ups and downs they've all been through together. He emphasizes how his respect and love for the Liverpool community have only grown over time.

He's upfront about his decision, highlighting the importance of being honest with the fans. He explains that he's realizing he can't keep up with the demands of the job in the long run.

His decision surprised not only Liverpool fans but also the entire football world. It did not seem that the German expert could really make such a decision, given that his passion and love for football can be felt from match to match. His colleague, Pep Guardiola, confirmed that he was surprised by Klopp's decision. Guardiola emphasized that Liverpool was their biggest rival in previous seasons. It will be strange to watch their derby without Klopp on the bench.

“A little bit. A little bit. He’s an absolutely incredible manager. He’s an incredible person as well. I had a feeling that at the end of the season when he is leaving, part of us, Man City, is leaving too. They have been our biggest rival, Liverpool in these years. Personally, in [Borussia] Dortmund and here [in England] he’s been my biggest rival, so he will be missed. Personally, I will miss him."- Guardiola said, as quoted by

Pep Guardiola shared his thoughts on Jürgen Klopp's decision to leave Liverpool, mentioning that he understands how tiring it can be for managers to stay in one place for many years. He relates to Klopp's feelings, recalling his own experiences at Barcelona.

The Spanish expert felt a great deal of fatigue even when he was the coach of Barcelona. When you are preparing for a new match day after day, and you have enormous pressure from match to match, it is very difficult to function in such conditions. Only the mentally strongest can do that.

Guardiola wants to reassure everyone that he's doing fine personally, despite the challenges of long-term coaching roles. In response to Klopp's departure, Guardiola expresses his intention to continue coaching for at least another year, and he's even open to extending his contract beyond that

Guardiola feels happy in Manchester City and has great ambitions for the future in this team. The Spanish expert hopes that he can do great things with the English club and repeat the last season. This is the momentum that Guardiola wants to take advantage of, and he believes that this club has the potential to reach the top.

At one point, Pep decided to joke, and at the same time praise his colleague, stressing that he will now sleep easier after Klopp leaves Liverpool.

“I’m really pleased because without him I will sleep a little bit better the nights before we play against Liverpool. I wish him all the best. This personality, this energy, will be back. Football needs personalities and managers like him. I hope we can time to have dinner together.”

It will be interesting to see who will become the new manager of Liverpool. Many believe that there are great chances that Xabi Alonso will become that. Considering the great work he is doing in Leverkusen, it seems like a real option at the moment.
