Liverpool could become much stronger with the return of essential players

Despite great problems, Liverpool is at the top of the Premier League after 13 rounds. With the victory over Tottenham, they returned to the well-known first place in the table, and before the meeting with Crystal Palace on Saturday (13.30), Jurgen Klopp announced more good news.

Namely, Thiago Alcantara, James Milner, and Xherdan Shaqiri are back in training and could help the team next week. The Spanish national team player arrived at Anfield in October from Bayern Munich, but due to injuries and the coronavirus, he made only two appearances in the Premier League.

Klopp points out that he will not hurry him, but he does not rule out the possibility that he could return to the field next week. "He wants to come back. We've already joked that we should sign Tiago in January. He's getting closer and closer to returning, he's on a good path, but we won't hurry him, we can't afford it."

" It's nice to have him in training as he can do a lot of things, but he still doesn't work with the team. That's the last step. We'll see. Could he train with the team next week? I'm not 100 percent sure.

He has to pass a couple of tests before making a final decision," Klopp said

Injury problems

The head of the Liverpool profession also stated that the situation is similar to James Milner and Xherdan Shaqiri. The experienced English midfielder was injured at the end of November during the match with Brighton, while the Swiss returned from the national team break in the middle of the previous month injured and has not been in the lineup since then.

The Reds have a number of injury problems this season, Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk have suffered more and it is not specified when they will return, but the club hopes that the duo could play until the end of the season.

Diogo Jota could be out of action for about two months, a similar prognosis is regarding the injury of Costas Tsimikas. Nabi Keita returned to the team this week, while Joel Matip missed the duel with Tottenham, but he should be ready for the clash with the Crystal Palace team this weekend.

The current champion will have three more games until the end of the calendar year, after the visit to Selhurst, they will meet the WBA on December 27, and end in 2020 at St. James Park (December 30).
