Belgian soccer star Kevin De Bruyne could be back on the pitch sooner than expected after being included in Manchester City's 23-man squad for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia. This unexpected development has sparked excitement and speculation about De Bruyne's potential return to action.

The 32-year-old midfielder has been ruled out after surgery in August to repair a hamstring injury sustained during the Champions League final against Inter Milan in June. He further aggravated the injury during Manchester City's Premier League opener against Burnley on 11 August.

Despite recent positive progress in his recovery, De Bruyne himself has expressed doubts that he will return before the end of the year. However, his inclusion in the Club World Cup squad suggests a possible change in the timeframe of his recovery.

While it remains unclear whether he will be fit enough to take part in the tournament, which starts on December 12, it presents an opportunity for him to continue training in warm weather conditions, potentially speeding up his rehabilitation.

Manchester City as European representative

Manchester City, as the winner of the Champions League, enters the Club World Cup in the semi-final stage. They will face Mexican club Leon or Urawa Red Diamonds from Japan on December 19.

If De Bruyne recovers sufficiently, this could be his first appearance since August. Of course, the club from England is the main favorite to win the world club championship De Bruyne's return would be a big boost for the club as well.

He is considered a key player for both Manchester City and the Belgian national team, and his creativity and vision on the pitch are sorely missed. Whether De Bruyne will play at the Club World Cup remains to be seen, but his inclusion in the squad raises hopes of an early return to action. This would be welcome news for Manchester City fans and the Belgian national team.
