Many were surprised to see that Marcus Rashford will not play the match against Fulham. Many thought that Rashford would not play due to the birthday celebration after the defeat against Newcastle United. However, Erik ten Hag explained the main reason why Marcus did not play in a press conference.

Alejandro Garnacho played in his position and was excellent. 'He was travelling with us but he didn’t make it. We tested him this morning but he was not good enough. He’s not fit.' The Dutch expert did not want to make many comments about Rashford and his birthday celebration.

Erik ten Haag wants to focus on the future and the next challenges that await his team. 'Yes. I think we have to close that case [about the birthday celebrations]. I have said everything about it.’

Rio Ferdinand reacts to Rashford's absence

Rio Ferdinand also elaborated on Rashford's absence, attributing it to an injury that has posed a significant challenge for him.

Marcus is recognized for maintaining a clean record in terms of disciplinary issues. While his performance this season has been less than satisfactory, it's important to acknowledge that Marcus remains one of the key players for this team.

There is a collective optimism that the Englishman will rediscover his top form and showcase his full range of abilities. ‘He’s travelled down, from what I gauge. He’s had a medical test this morning and he’s failed it with a heavy knock to his leg, a dead leg.

We’re told it happened in the last training session before today. We were all primed up for a disciplinary decision to be made, but that’s taken out of the manager’s hands now with an injury to Marcus Rashford.’ The most important thing for Erik ten Hag is that his team achieved a victory in a difficult away game against Fulham.
