Rio Ferdinand explains what Ratcliffe has to do when he arrives at Manchester United
by SEAD DEDOVIC
Sir Jim Ratcliffe is a person who has been mentioned a lot lately. Many believe that he is the right man for a club like Manchester United. Sir Jim Ratcliffe is poised to acquire a 25% minority share in the club, effectively granting him significant influence over the club's football operations.
Although fans don't know how to react to the fact that Ratcliffe will buy 'only' 25% of the shares, Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand explained what this actually means; ‘We’ve not had it explained what 25 per cent looks like from a business standpoint, to appease the anxiety,’ said Ferdinand.
Rio Ferdinand on Ratcliffe and fans
Fans have been expressing dissatisfaction with the Glazers and their politics for years. Ferdinand believes that Ratcliffe's arrival must leave a huge impact on the fans who want to communicate with him.
If communication is absent, it is difficult to expect that he will receive support. Ratcliffe could be someone who will bring freshness to the club and additional excitement. It is necessary for him to calm passions, show that he wants progress in the club, and convince the fans that United will be the old one!
Over time, he could build trust. ‘Most fans wanted a new ownership. It’s not that now, so communication is vital. If Mr Ratcliffe is coming in and wants to hit the ground running, show some signs of influence. One of the key areas he needs to zone in on is communication with the fanbase.
They are so important with the tone around the ground and that influences players. If you can control the hype, you have a better chance of keeping the dressing room tight knit and emotions to a level to perform. At the moment, the grey area for every single element of the football club is not healthy.’ Ratcliffe is the man who could create a new Manchester United!
The crisis that has been reigning within the team for years has set off red alarms. It is time for changes and a new policy within the club. United could have a bright future.
