England managed to celebrate against Italy, although things did not look great for them in the beginning. Italy took the lead with a Scamacca scoring. However, not long after that, Harry Kane equalized with a penalty kick. In the second half, England scored two goals (Rashford and Kane), and won with a score of 3:1.

Gareth Southgate could be satisfied with his team's performance. This great coach especially praised Kalvin Philipps and Harry Maguire, two players who do not get so many minutes in their clubs. ‘Ideally, we would have everyone playing regularly, but you can see Kalvin [Phillips] and Harry [Maguire] were both outstanding tonight,’ Southgate told Channel 4, as quoted by METRO!

‘They are both important for us. They are up against really good players at their clubs.’

Gareth Southgate on Marcus Rashford: I don’t know how much ground he covered today

Marcus Rashford is a player who is criticized by many this season.

His form is not great, but in the match against Italy, he showed how good a player he is and how important he is to his team. Rashford ran a lot and scored a goal in the second half. Southgate especially appreciates that. ‘Our front players worked unbelievably for the team.

Marcus Rashford, I don’t know how much ground he covered today. When your front players are doing that sort of work, it’s a brilliant sign for the team.’ Gareth believes that his team has shown its true strength at this point.

You can feel the unity and strength. The results on the pitch show this best. The goal is to continue like this in the future. The English believe that it is time to lift the cup and win the EURO. ‘We’re so hungry, so eager to learn, so together.

And you saw that in the performance tonight. We said before that mentality was the main thing. The performance was relentless tonight.’
