Peter Schmeichel: Scott McTominay was up for sale all summer. I don’t understand that
by SEAD DEDOVIC
Scott McTominay has never been a player who has drawn a lot of attention to himself. However, every time he played he gave his best, and in many moments he helped Manchester United win. It was an astonishing victory for the Reds against Brentford in stoppage time, as McTominay scored two goals in the dying seconds.
Many believe that the Scot should get more chances. Former United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel believes McTominay needs more opportunities in the future.
‘He’s got the ability to do that,’ - Schmeichel said, as quoted by METRO.
‘I don’t understand what coaches are doing. Scott McTominay was up for sale all summer and I don’t understand that.' McTominay is a footballer who can play in various positions. He is a child of Manchester United and someone the fans respect.
Perhaps this match will be a turning point and an opportunity for McTominay to confirm his qualities. ‘He’s a fantastic player, you need utility players. You need players that can play different positions, that can come from the bench and change the course of the game and he’s definitely one of them.
You bring in players and you sit there with big question marks, why is that player there?’
Erik ten Hag on Scot McTominay
Erik ten Hag was also delighted with McTominay's performance. Many believe that with a defeat against Brentford, Erik ten Hag would be fired or as close to being fired as he has ever been.
It can be said that Scot "saved" his job. We will see if he will be given more chances in the coming period. ‘You know with Scott you get drive and energy on the pitch. He can make a goal, he can arrive and his willingness is very strong.
His feeling for this club is very strong, he plays with all his heart. He will always defend the colours of this club.’
