Raphael Varane arrived at United two years ago as an important reinforcement. The Frenchman was one of the best defenders in the world during his career at Real Madrid. However, a huge number of injuries and a slightly different philosophy of the Real Madrid management was the result of his arrival at Manchester United.

Although Varane isn't that bad at Manchester United, his performances do not inspire optimism. As we have already said, a large number of injuries have left their mark on him, and it is difficult to expect the Frenchman to be in the same form as before.

Paul Scholes, the legend of Manchester United, was not satisfied with Varane's performance in the last match against Galatasaray. Scholes is worried about Raphael, especially because of the injuries that have taken their toll.

‘I worry about Varane a bit, he has been one of the very best defenders around, in that same ilk at Real Madrid,’ Scholes said to TNT Sports, as quoted by METRO! ‘I just think his legs are looking sluggish, he can’t keep fit and I worry about him.'

Scholes was disappointed by the defeat. The Englishman emphasized that United played well, but defensively they left a lot of space for the opposing players who knew how to use it.

When you play the strongest competition in the world, you must be aware that your every mistake will be punished. ‘Really disappointed. I actually don’t think they played that badly. All the talk before the game was that they couldn’t really score goals and there was a a lack of goals in the team.

It is almost as if we disregarded the defensive side of the game and the defensive side of the team it wasn’t good enough they were wide open at times.’
