FIFA has suspended Spanish soccer federation president Luis Rubiales for 90 days after he non-consensual kiss given to Spanish soccer player Jenni Hermoso, immediately after Spain's triumph in the FIFA Women's Soccer World Cup.

Rubiales has been suspended pending the disciplinary proceedings opened against him, while, during an extraordinary meeting, he refused to resign despite pressure from the Spanish government, soccer associations and fans.

In a note from FIFA, we can read: "President of the FIFA Disciplinary Commission, Jorge Ivan Palacio, making use of the powers granted by Article 51 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code. Palacio, in order to preserve the rights of the player of the Spanish international Jennifer Hermoso and the regularity of the proceedings before the Commission, has issued two additional directives ordering Rubiales and the Spanish Soccer Federation and its representatives to refrain from contacting Hermoso.

Specifying that the Commission will not provide further information on the disciplinary proceedings until a final decision has been taken, FIFA reaffirms its absolute commitment to respecting the integrity of all persons and condemns any contrary behavior with the utmost vigor."

After the attacks she received for her failure to resign after the kiss, Jenni Hermoso said she felt the victim of an assault and had been pressured to defend the president.

But the Spanish Federation defends itself from the accusations by opening up possible legal actions against the player. In a note, they explained: "Rubiales has not lied, the images speak for themselves. The president's version of events is verified in the open internal dossiers and to date, Mrs.

Jennifer Hermoso has not responded to any of the requests made. Rubiales is not lying and that his statements are absolutely true. The federation and the president, given the seriousness of the content of the press release, are also ready to take legal action.

Participation in the national team is an obligation for all members in case of call-up. We will not respond to national team calls as long as the current president remains in office."
