Manchester City defeated by Arsenal in the Community Shield final
Manchester City was defeated by Arsenal in the Community Shield final.
At the start, the Citizens seem fitter and less afraid. After five minutes City tries with Julian Alvarez, on which White is providential. Just before the quarter of an hour another chance for the blues from Manchester: Rodri's deflected shot almost hit the post.
In the second half of the first half Arsenal with Havertz, who is stopped by Ortega, with Martinelli unable to reply on goal. Among the ranks of the Londoners Saka also gets going, but Guardiola's team manages to save itself several times, also and above all thanks to its extreme defender.
In the second half the match continues to be blocked. City tries a corner in the 51st minute, but Arteta's team defends and tries to push on the left with Timber. However, it was City who uncorked the game: in the 77th minute, substitute De Bruyne touched for Cole Palmer, who let go of a delicious left-footed shot that went out behind Ramsdale, for 1-0.
The English goalkeeper saves the eventual 2-0 on Foden with a handful of minutes from the end, with the match director who then assigns eight minutes of added time. In full extra-time, at the end, Arsenal sensationally find the 1-1.
Trossard's desperate shot in the 101st minute meets an unfortunate deflection in the Citizens defence, with the ball bagging mocking Ortega. The challenge was therefore decided on penalties, with Arsenal winning the title. De Bruyne and Rodri's mistakes were decisive, with Ramsdale saving everything.
