Manchester City achieved an important victory over Arsenal and it seems that they are now the main favorites for the title. Pep Guardiola's team looked dominant throughout the match and they showed that they still have more quality than Arsenal.
Many comments followed the match, and the legendary Alan Shearer gave his opinion on the match; ‘Every time the ball went up, their understanding to know when, how and where to run, the timing and then the finish. They were never too far from each other, De Bruyne was always within five, ten yards of Haaland.
It was a magnificent performance from start to finish from Man City, they totally dominated in every position. Some of the play tonight was absolutely magnificent. Haaland was too strong, he got one goal, he could of or should of had three or four.
His finishing tonight wasn’t like how it has been the rest of the season. Arsenal just couldn’t cope with them tonight, they did bully them. ’- Shearer said, as quoted by METRO.
Kevin de Bruyne on the match
Kevin de Bruyne scored two goals and had one assist.
Nothing else was expected from the Belgian. For a long time, he is the one who 'leads' this team. The combination of Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne proved to be lethal. De Bruyne looked back on the match and talked about his impressions after everything: ‘I think we set up a bit differently, instead of two number eights I had the freedom to go left or right depending on where the space was.
When they played man to man we had to go a bit longer because there was no place for short passes. The first half was really good. We could have scored more. The second half was 50-50 but we didn’t give much away. They’re a class team and hard to play against. We had to be at our best today – and we were.’
