Bayern Munich striker, Sadio Mane, has been fined 500,000 euros and suspended indefinitely after physically assaulting teammate, Leroy Sane, in the dressing room following a Champions League match against Manchester City.

Although the fine is a record in the German Bundesliga, it is not the largest fine in football history, with that record being held by Cristiano Ronaldo, who was fined approximately 1.1 million euros by Manchester United last year.

Mane's Earnings and Possible Return

Mane, who earns over 20 million euros per year, will not find the fine too difficult to bear. During a meeting with the club's management, Leroy Sane stated that he did not want Mane to be punished any more severely and rejected the possibility of terminating the Senegalese player's contract.

According to German publication, Bild, if Mane shows remorse, he could return to the team for the second leg against Manchester City on Wednesday.

A Surprise Display of Aggression

The altercation between Mane and Sane, which started on the field and continued in the dressing room, resulted in Mane punching Sane in the mouth.

This sudden display of aggression was a surprise to the football world, as Mane has previously been known for his calm demeanor both on and off the field. Bayern Munich's management, consisting of Hasan Salihamidžić and Oliver Kahn, recently held a meeting to discuss potential consequences for Mane's actions, leading to the fine and indefinite suspension.

An Official Statement from Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich released an official statement, confirming that Mane would not be included in the squad for their upcoming home game against 1899 Hoffenheim. The statement reads: "Sadio Mane, 31, will not be in the FC Bayern squad for the home game against 1899 Hoffenheim next Saturday.

The reason is misconduct by Mané after FC Bayern's Champions League game at Manchester City. In addition, Mané will receive a fine." The altercation between Sadio Mane and Leroy Sane has resulted in a fine and indefinite suspension for the Senegalese striker. Although the fine is a record in the German Bundesliga, it is not the largest fine in football history.
