Mikel Arteta delighted with Gabriel Martinelli and his reaction

Gabriel Martinelli was one of the heroes of the Arsenal team in the victory against Crystal Palace (4:1). The Brazilian scored the first goal and thus helped his team to victory. A few days ago, Martinelli was the tragedian of his team, as he missed a penalty in the penalty shootouts against Sporting.

This is precisely why Arsenal did not advance to the quarterfinals of the Europa League. Speaking about his impressions after the match, Mikel Arteta put special emphasis on Martinelli. It seems that the Spaniard is proud of him.

'The reaction he had after missing a penalty was great,’ Arteta said, as quoted by METRO. ‘There is always the question, but I asked him yesterday how he was and he said: “I want to be in the team”.

Arsenal vs Sporting

Although many expected that the match with Sporting could affect the team spirit and mentality of the players, Arsenal's players showed character and played phenomenally until the very end. 'The desire and the energy that we put in right from the beginning impressed me most.

We were really determined and focused and left Thursday in the past. After playing 120 minutes, they have to come back here and do it again against a team with a lot of needs. Crystal Palace have not got the results lately but they have be very tough to beat.

But we were dominant and deserved to win the game. Today, in the box when we had those openings, we defined the game in the right way.’ Now the national team will have a break. Some players will have a chance to rest, while most of those who will play for the national teams will have to protect themselves from injuries.

‘Now we must stop and make sure everyone comes back from the internationals with the same mindset. We have Leeds next and we put the focus there.’ Arsenal is in contention for the title and they have a good chance to really make it big after almost 19 years.

Although many expected that Arsenal would fall during the season and record worse results, Mikel Arteta's team is still defending the points difference and they don't let anyone crush their dreams.
