Manchester United failed to win against Leeds United. However, they can be satisfied with 1 point, given that the score was 2-0 in the second half. One of the players who once again impressed fans and football experts is Lisandro Martinez.
The Argentine again showed his fight, quality and that height does not play an important role for him. Jamie Carragher spoke on the Overlap Fan Debate about Martinez's qualities. 'Lisandro Martínez has been brilliant.
To be that small and play centre back, you obviously have to be a special player. He's been a big part of Manchester United's spirit. There was a game I saw a few weeks ago and he was a sub, and someone scored a late goal, and he was right involved in the celebrations.'
- Carragher said, as quoted by dailymail.co.uk Carragher believes he and Casemiro are great partners 'At the World Cup with Argentina, we saw him have that fight – with him and Casemiro coming in, they feel more powerful and strong.
Someone of that size will get exposed in the air – that has to happen at some stage. Every player has weaknesses; the best players hide them or make sure they don't get exposed. He's a really good player and he's surprised me the way he's coped.'
Jamie Carragher and Martinez
Jamie Carragher spoke about Martinez 6 months ago. He thought that he would not be a good reinforcement for the team. 'The other problem he's [ten Hag] got is the signing of Lisandro Martinez.
Now, we should never judge managers or players too early, but I'm convinced this can't work because the size of him playing in a back four. Maybe he could go left-back, maybe he could play in a back three, but in a back four, he cannot play there in the Premier League.'
The Argentine is one of United's best players this season, and is expected to continue at the same pace.
