Considered one of the best soccer player of all time, Cristiano Ronaldo is the most prolific goalscorer in football history, as well as the record holder for appearances and goals for national football teams. He is part of the small circle of players with at least 1,000 career appearances, in which he is the striker with the most appearances.

During his career he played for Sporting Lisbon, Manchester Utd, Real Madrid and Juventus, winning 31 trophies including five UEFA Champions Leagues, two UEFA Super Cups and four Club World Cups. He holds the record for appearances, goals and assists in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA club competitions.

With the Portuguese national team, of which he is the record holder for appearances and goals, he took part in five editions of the world championship (2006, 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022), reaching fourth place in 2006; five editions of the European championship (2004, 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2020), winning the one in 2016 (first title for Portugal) and reaching second place in 2004 and third place in 2012; at an edition of the Confederations Cup (2017), finishing in third place; and to the final tournament of a UEFA Nations League (2018-2019), also winning the latter.

At the European championship he holds the record for goals and appearances and is the only player to take the field and score for five editions (in 2012 and 2020 he also obtained the title of top scorer). At the World Cup he is the only player to score in five editions.

Eric Cantona's words about CR7

Eric Cantona, former Manchester United soccer star spoke (criticizing him) of Cristiano Ronaldo, comparing him to Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Cantona told: "There are two types of veterans: the one who wants to play every game because he still thinks he's 25 and the one who realizes he's not 25 and is here to help young players, knows he won't play every game matches, but he is aware that he will have his moment.

There are players who help the new ones: Ibrahimovic still does it with Milan, Ryan Giggs or Maldini himself when he was at Milan. Cristiano Ronaldo does not realize he is not 25 years old He's already older and doesn't know that instead of not being happy about not having played everything, he should accept the situation."
