MACboat Festival: sailing in Italy

On the same date of 2020 edition of the Scellerata Regata (Wicked Regatta), then canceled following the anti-Covid restrictions, the Sailing Club promotes a nice initiative called Ripartiamo per vellerate. Thus, on the morning of Sunday 19 July, the dynamic Biscegliese reality chaired by Antonio De Angelis invites all members to participate in a non-competitive sailing club that will be articulated through a stick path overlooking the west coast.

Included in the MACboat 2020 Festival billboard, the sailing will be organized once again in memory of the incomparable Alfredo Di Clemente, founding member of the Bisceglie Sailing Club and who passed away in 2015. The exit of the boats from the port of Bisceglie will be preceded, at 9 am, by an important briefing in which the Sailing School project will be officially unveiled, thanks to which the CV Bisceglie will finally be able to benefit from a physical location outlined essential for developing its business.

, with the creation of a changing room area, floating pier, slipway for sailing dinghies, sails warehouse, toilets, boat racks and the activation of a seabin (robot cleaner).

Meanwhile Luna Rossa prepares the America's Cup

Waiting for the America's Cup, preparations are underway in the Cagliari waters (Sardinia, Italy) for the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team in view of the December regattas in New Zealand.

International sailing starts again in Italy. The come back to normality of international competitive sailing passes through Melges. From the last weekend the first two events of the Melges World League will take place until the next weekend, without any delay compared to the times dictated by the Italian Sailing Federation for the resumption of competitions.

The first two events of the Melges World League which, in Malcesine, will see the first Melges 20 (3-5 July), then Melges 32 (9-11 July). Melges 20 fleet gathered at the Fraglia Vela Malcesine where the 2020 regatta series began last weekend.

These will be the first acts of a season that, in terms of location, will offer some very welcome returns, such as the Sardinian destinations of Villasimius and Puntaldia, discovered by the Melges universe during 2019, when they hit the imagination of crews and staff you work thanks to weather conditions that have equaled the indisputable charm of these Mediterranean pearls.

Going to the detail of the Melges World League, it is a must to tell that exploited the unmissable opportunity to be among the first to return between the buoys, the fleets will separate their roads, with the Melges 20 that will be guests at the Marina by Scarlino towards the end of July (24-26).

An appointment that will anticipate that of Puntaldia, where the season will come alive with the September event (18-20), which will be followed by the Russian Open-Pre World (2-4 October) and the World Championship (7-10 October), when the specialists of this competitive monotype will meet to discover the heir of Stig, winner in Miami of the 2019 world title.

The Melges 20 will therefore close their series in Porto Venere, with the showdown scheduled between November 20 and 22.
