Nine of the ten richest Russians invest in sports!

Bloomberg, one of the two largest providers of financial information, published a list of the 500 richest people in the world, topped by Elon Musk, the founder of the electric car company Tesla, whose wealth is estimated at as much as 311,000,000,000 dollars.

But, on another occasion about the others from the top ... It is interesting that there are 27 Russians in the Top 500, of which there are nine with the deepest pockets or the biggest safe, performing at least one function in sports there, either as club owners, sponsors, members of individual boards, or presidents of national federations.

The richest Russian, Leonid Mikhelson, who earned his wealth of 33,300,000,000 dollars (increased by 8,580,000,000 in 2021) on the production and distribution of gas, is the head of the Board of Directors of the Football Federation of Russia.

Vladimir Potanin (31,800,000,000, increased by 1,760,000,000 in 2021) is the president of the company Norilsk Nickel, which is the sponsor of the Hockey Federation of Russia and KK CSKA. Alexei Mordashov (28,800,000,000, +5,760,000,000) is the founder and owner of the KHL team Severstal, Vladimir Lisin (28,600,000,000, +4,700,000,000) is the president of the International Shooting Federation - ISSF, Vagit Alekperov (24,500,000,000, +7,250 .000.000) is the president of Lukoil, the general sponsor of FC Spartak.

Gennady Timchenko (23,300,000,000, +6,670,000,000) is the president of the KHL SKA team and the president of the KHL Board of Directors. Alisher Usmanov (21,800,000,000, +644,000,000), who was once the co-owner of Arsenal FC, is the founder of the main sponsor of FC Arsenal Tula and the president of the International Fencing Federation.

Abramovich

Roman Abramovich (18,900,000,000, +440,000,000) is the widely known owner of FC Chelsea, and Viktor Vekselberg (18,500,000,000, +2,420,000,000) is a member of the Board of Directors of the Basketball Federation of Russia.

It is noticeable that only Abramovich does not invest part of his wealth in domestic sports, but concentrates on the London club. It is obvious that the Russian rich have a good development plan and are trying to invest a lot of money in sports, which is certainly commendable.

However, the most famous example of all of us is Abramovich, who appeared in the media in 2004 when he decided to buy Chelsea FC, from which he made a European giant, and won many trophies with them. It is certain that the plan to invest in big European teams will continue, no matter in which sport, the only question is whether it is out of love for sports or the goal is to increase wealth.
