Dallas Stars won 8-1 vs the Chicago Blackhawks. Mason Marchment surprised the coach and fans of this club with a hat trick and an assist. He showed that he has the qualities that a team like this needs. Marchment is happy with his great performance and the performance of his colleagues who showed that they believe in their team.

“Great finish. Not the way I drew it up, but you’ve got to get lucky every once in a while. I was giving [Esa Lindell] the target and he hit it right on the dot, then it went off a guy’s foot.”- Marchment said, as quoted by nhl.com!

Scott Wedgewood was also one of the better individuals in the match with 23 saves. Stars defenseman Ryan Suter is happy for him and the confidence he shows from match to match. When you are a goalie and you have consistency, then it is a great thing not only for you, but for the whole team.

“[Wedgewood]’s been great. He’s got the confidence right now. He’s making that first save right now, which is important. When he has confidence and your goalie is making those saves, it kind of gives your whole team confidence.”-  Ryan Suter said.

Luke Richardson reacts: We lack energy

Luke Richardson, the Blackhawks coach, stressed that he felt there wasn't much competitive spirit in their recent game. He mentioned that the team didn't showed the positive aspects they had shown in the previous game, like moving actively in the offensive zone and taking shots.  These are things that they will have to work on in the future, considering that if they play similarly, it is difficult to expect positive results.

He felt their performance in the recent game was slower, lacking the same level of energy and determination. Richardo said that the opposing team had improved their game, while the Blackhawks seemed to regress, resulting in a score that reflected their poorer performance.
