Minnesota Wild defeated the Calgary Flames in a shootout, 3-2.  Matt Boldy continued his great streak, and was again the goalscorer for his team. He is happy that his team showed character and willingness to fight until the end. He did not forget to thank his teammates, without whom he could hardly have been so great.

“Played well again,” Boldy said, as quoted by NHL! “Guys are going, playing well. It’s just good to win. You’ve got a group of guys that work hard every night. [A lot of] desperation to win to get that kind of streak going and stuff like that, so a lot of credit to other guys.”

John Hynes reacts to his team's performance

John Hynes, the Wild coach, had every right to be happy with his team's performance. They knew that they were playing a match against a strong team that would punish every mistake. Defensively they looked great, as a team they were compact, and in the end they were rewarded for it.

“Thought it was a really strong team game for us,” Hynes said. “…When you can play a really compact, strong team game, it gives you the best chance to win. Our [defense] core played really well, we played well as a five-man unit. I think when you can play with structure, everybody contributes, it gives you a chance to win."

Calgary coach Ryan Huska believes that his team deserved more in this match. This will be an important lesson for the next matches.

“This was a good game, probably for both sides I would say,” Calgary coach Ryan Huska said. “I thought we had a slow first 10 minutes, but then I liked our game from that point forward. I felt like we deserved the extra point tonight.”
