Tony Granato, a man who achieved great success in his NHL career, has confirmed that he has been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Granato shared via social media that confirming such news has been difficult for him and that he will take a break to start treatment.


"I debated how to share this news, but I will be taking a temporary leave of absence from NBC Sports Chicago and the Blackhawks broadcasts, as well as NHL Network," Granato posted on X. "I was recently diagnosed with a form of Non-Hodgkin lymphoma and will begin treatment this week."

Tony confirmed that he wanted to share the information with everyone who knows him.

Although these are difficult moments for him, Granato believes that the support of his family will be crucial during the treatment. He did not forget to thank all those who expressed their support and love.

"I wish I could reach out to everyone individually but felt like this was the best way to share the news.

My family, faith, and friends will be my strength to help me through my treatments. I appreciate all the love and support I have received already."

His current aim is to step away from the NHL and his responsibilities, dedicating as much time as possible to his family.

He needs to stay strong. Considering his career and playing style, we do not doubt that Granato will triumph once again in this new battle.

"With the holiday season here, cherish the times with your loved ones, as I know I will."
Granato is a former NHL player who is remembered by older fans of the game.

After the end of his career, Tony decided to start a coaching career in which he was successful on several occasions. His love for the NHL has never been questioned.
