Patrick Marleau is the new development coach of the San Jose Sharks

It was announced on Friday that Patrick Marleau will be the San Jose Sharks' player development coach and hockey operations adviser. There was no denying that Patrick Marleau was overjoyed by this engagement, given that he has only the best memories associated with the Sharks, since he used to play for the team back in the day.

It is likely that not only young players but also more experienced players can learn something from him.
"I'm extremely excited to be officially back as part of the Sharks organization," Marleau said, as quoted by NHL. "I'm looking forward to working with our players on the ice to help them reach their full potential and sharing the knowledge I have garnered from playing 23 years in the National Hockey League.

I'm also eager to work with Mike and his staff, and to continuing to learn about the game and business side of hockey."

Mike Grier on Patrick Marleau

San Jose general manager Mike Grier emphasized how important Marleau will be to the entire team.

Grier is looking forward to this kind of cooperation, and hopes that his team can achieve its goals for the next season. "It's rare that you get the opportunity to add someone to your organization that brings a level of talent and character like Patrick Marleau," Grier said.

"As one of the top players of his generation, Patty possesses an unlimited wealth of institutional knowledge about the game." His experience as a player in this club can be the main thing in the whole story. "Perhaps more importantly, he was a cornerstone piece in the Sharks becoming one of the NHL's most dominant franchises over the last two decades and knows what it takes to win and succeed in the NHL.

We are extremely happy to bring Patty back into the Sharks family as we continue building a team that our fans can be proud of."
