Bo Horvat signed an 8-year contract with the New York Islanders

Bo Horvat signed an 8-year contract with the New York Islanders. Horvat had no dilemmas, given that the Islanders are an organized group and have great ambitions. "A lot of it had to do with culture, organization," Horvat said for nhl.com "I think they can win right now.

They have a great core group of guys here that know what it takes to win, and I can't wait to be part of that here for eight more years." Horvat was part of the trade. Islanders general manager Lou Lamoriello is happy with the opportunity.

"Whenever you make a transaction like that, the intent is to certainly sign [him] long term or you wouldn't do that," Lou Lamoriello said. "We were able to get it done, quite frankly, first thing this morning. When he came in he had a conversation with his representative, and we signed."

Bo Horvat on his future

Horvat was worried about his future, but after signing the contract, things are much easier for him.

Bo wants to prove himself and show that the chance he got was not without reason. "It's a relief to be honest with you," Horvat said. "It's been a mental grind of a year to say the least. To finally lock it in and kind of be set up … the unknowing was the thing that was kind of hindering me and my family the most, so to be locked in here for eight years is special to me." Islanders captain Anders Lee believes that Horvat will bring a lot to the team.

"His experience in the dot, he's really good on face-offs, so he's going to be a huge asset for us [on the power play]," -Anders Lee said. "Obviously, we could use a little bit of a jump in that area right now, and I think he's going to bring that."
