Bobby Wagner opens on decision to sign with Rams after being released by Seahawks

Bobby Wagner says he is definitely happy to be a member of the Los Angeles Rams as he is now near his family and he gets to meet the Seattle Seahawks twice a year. After 10 seasons, the Seahawks decided to move on from eight-time All-Pro linebacker Wagner.

Wagner was caught off guard by the Seahawks' decision to cut him and he signed with the Rams after taking some time to decide his next move. Wagner, who was born in Los Angeles, now gets to play at home and he is also set to meet the Seahawks at least twice a year since the Rams and Seahawks share the same division.

"Obviously there are still feelings there [about being released]," Wagner said, per the Seattle Times. "But at the end of the day I have a different perspective. I think my opinion on it would have been different if I ended up somewhere else.

But to have the opportunity to go home and play not far from my family. Like I haven't played this close to my family since high school. I didn't want to leave Seattle. But if I was going to leave Seattle, home was the next-best thing for me and so being able to be home, like I'm at peace with the situation.

But still any competitor is looking forward to going back to the place that you played that they felt like you didn't have nothing left and proving them wrong."

Wagner feels he can thrive with the Rams

The Rams have a new star pass rush duo in the likes of Wagner and Aaron Donald.

The Rams are coming off of a Super Bowl winning season, while the Seahawks missed out on the playoffs last year. The Rams have a star-studded team and Wagner feels he can definitely thrive in Los Angeles and put up big numbers again.

"I think that I'm in a better position to make plays and I think I'm going to have more opportunities to do some of the things that I was doing early on in my career," Wagner said. "So I think I'm going to surprise everybody but myself." This offseason, the Rams lost Von Miller, who decided to sign with the Buffalo Bills.

The Rams properly addressed the Miller departure as the Wagner signing gives Donald another star puss rushes to play alongside. The Rams have high ambitions going into the season and Wagner will certainly be hoping to help his new team repeat as the Super Bowl champions.
