Cleveland Browns running back Kareem Hunt admits the Browns would like a resolution in the Deshaun Watson case as the whole situation has been causing a lot of stress within the Browns locker room. The NFL is investigating the se*ual harassment and misconduct allegations made against Watson.
Last week, Watson's lawyer announced the quarterback had settled 20 of 24 civil lawsuits filed against him. However, the NFL is still pushing for a Watson suspension as the league wants to reportedly suspend Watson for at least a year.
“Yeah, it’s definitely stressful for them,” Hunt told Cleveland.com. "It’s tough because they’re trying to figure out what pieces they’ve got for the season and what plays they want to put in,” Hunt said.
“There’s different plays for Deshaun and [backup] Jacoby [Brissett], different playbook, different things we can do at quarterback”. Baker Mayfield is still a member of the Browns but it is not a secret that both sides would like to part ways.
Some think that the Browns might reach out to Mayfield and ask him to come back in case Watson gets suspended for the whole season.
Hunt: The next man up if Watson gets suspended
“I mean, I really don’t know too much about the whole situation,”Hunt added.
“If he misses it, it’s a next-man-up mentality. I’m going to be ready to play, and I know the rest of the team is still going to be ready to play. We didn’t have Deshaun last year or the years before. We do [talk about it], but we’re more worried about ourselves.
It’s a business, man, that’s the biggest thing. You’ve got to worry about yourself, because if you don’t you could not be here”. Meanwhile, Watson admitted to regretting the Browns and his close ones in a difficult situation.
"I do understand that I do have regrets as far as the impact that [it's had] on the community and people outside of just myself," Watson said. "And that includes my family. That includes this organization.
That includes my teammates in this locker room that have to answer to these questions. That includes the fan base of the Cleveland Browns. That includes males, females, everyone across the, the world. That's one thing I do regret is the impact that it's triggered on so many people. It's tough to have to deal with."
