Carson Wentz comments on Commanders - Eagles Week 3 matchup

Washington Commanders quarterback Carson Wentz admits a Week 3 game versus the Philadelphia Eagles won't be like any other game. After the 2020 season, the Eagles decided to move on from Wentz, trading him to the Indianapolis Colts.
Wentz didn't impress in his first year in Indianapolis so the team decided to ship him away after the 2021. Now, Wentz is in Washington and the Commanders will take on the Eagles in Week 3. Needles to say, Wentz will be extremely motivated to do well against the team that gave up on him after the 2020 season.
“I know that’ll be a big game. A lot of emotions,” Wentz said on NFL Network, per Pro Football Talk. “I’m sure fans will eat that one up and it’ll be fun — make for a good storyline.
But at the end of the day, it’s going to be just another ballgame. It’s going to be a huge divisional game for us when that one comes. So I’m excited for it, but at the same time, I’m trying not to get too excited for that one, because, again, it’s just football.
Can’t press. Can’t do too much”.
The Commanders happy to have Wentz
Wentz is set to play on a third different team in as many years. However, the Commanders are happy to have Wentz as they believe he is their long-term answer at the quarterback.
"All those guys come out and say, man, this guy was a good teammate, this was a guy that pulled us tighter, this was a guy that helped us get where we are or headed toward — you feel positive about that, you really do," Commanders head coach Ron Rivera said.
"And it's an exciting thing to hear that, that his teammates spoke of him in that fashion." Wentz was playing at an MVP level in the 2017 season but then suffered a torn ACL and since then he hasn't been the same player.
"The one thing I do look at [is] the fact that at one point he was 11-2," Rivera said. "And, of course, he hurt his knee — a year where he was talked about in the MVP conversation. So there's a lot of things that go into play, a lot of things happen.
But to us, this was a positive. We were looking for a guy of his stature, with his kind of ability. So to be able to pick him up and make the deal for him, we feel very positive about that."
