Jalen Ramsey reveals Cowboys broke promise they made prior to 2016 NFL draft

Los Angeles Rams star cornerback Jalen Ramsey reveals he grew up a Dallas Cowboys and admitted to being ecstatic when the Cowboys promised him they would draft if he was available at No. 4 in the 2016 NFL draft. Ramsey, who is now considered as the best cornerback in the NFL, visited the Cowboys prior to the 2016 NFL draft.

The Cowboys, who had the fourth pick in the 2016 NFL draft, told Ramsey they didn't believe he would be available at No. 4. Even though the Cowboys weren't optimistic Ramsey would be available at No. 4, they promised to draft him if he somehow wasn't selected in the top-3.

The Cowboys selected running back Ezekiel Elliott, while Ramsey was taken by the Jacksonville Jaguars at No. 5. "I remember when I was on my visit to Dallas, they told me, like straight up to my face, 'Like if you there at four, we take him.

We don't think you're going to be there at four, we think they're going to get you at three. if you there on that board we take you,' " Ramsey said on The Pivot Podcast. During his visit with the Jaguars, Ramsey was told they really wanted to get him.

Ramsey wasn't among top-4 selections and the Jaguars kept on their promise and selected the now five-time Pro Bowl cornerback.

Ramsey hopes Odell Beckham Jr. returns to the Rams

During his appearance on The Pivod Podcast, Ramsey expressed his hope free agent wide receiver Beckham would return to the Rams for 2022.

Beckham joined the Rams mid-season and helped the team win the Super Bowl. “He meant a lot to the team. He meant a whole lot,” Ramsey said. “When you talk about performance, we’re in a performance-based industry, he’s a dog.

He really the dude – all the highlights – he’s still that. When you’re a receiver, you do have to have a certain chemistry with your quarterback and offensive coordinator. It’s got to be the right situation for you, especially when you’re on the offensive side of the ball.

He hasn’t had that in a little while but he’s still him, for sure. … There ain’t that many that athletic, that twitchy, run good routes, hands, he’s really that one. He brought that juice. In the playoffs, we were getting O the ball early. O was really that igniter”.
