Lions' T.J. Hockenson: Jared Goff now has different mentality

Detroit Lions tight end T.J. Hockenson insists Jared Goff now has a different mentaliy as he has nothing but good to say of his new quarterback. Goff, who was selected at No. 1 in the 2016 NFL draft, was traded by the Los Angeles Rams this offseason.

“Jared’s my dog. He’s a great dude,” Hockenson said, per Pro Football Talk. “I threw with him a couple times this offseason out in L.A. and that guy just has a different mentality. I’ve been excited to have him, see the throws he’s made in 7-on[-7], see what kind of person he is, how he sees the game — there’s nothing like it.

I really am excited to have him as my quarterback. The reads that he’s made, the reads that he’s done have been special. And I know that guy is ready to go — he really is”.

Goffin hoping to bounce back with the Lions

Goff didn't have a great 2020 season with the Rams and it was evident that they would trade him in the offseason.

Now, Goff has a fresh beginning with the Lions and he is hoping to lead the team to success. Elsewhere, Los Angeles Chargers quarterbacks coach is happy with the progress second-year quarterback Jared Goff is making. “We’re seeing him on the trajectory we want to see him at right now,” Day said, via Jeff Miller of the L.A.

Times. “As we started off and [have] gone through these last couple weeks of practice, he’s really, really sped up as far as what he knows. I think it’s all right where it’s supposed to be. It’s been perfect”.

Herbert is never shy to ask questions during practices. “I think that’s one of the most impressive things because, when you do that, it takes a lot of time on the front end but then everything starts to slow down for you,” Day said.

“I think he’s finally getting to that stage where it’s slowing down”. Meanwhile, Washington Football Team quarterback coach Ken Zampese raved about veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. “It’s like a new guy,” said Zampese, via WDVM.

“It’s been so long since we have been together. You can see the experience, the different teams he has been with. The concepts he has had, the coaches he has had. I think he has an extreme desire to excel and be in the top group of quarterbacks and compete at that level."
