Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: We are going for Super Bowl

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin has underlined that making the Super Bowl is the team's clear goal ftor his season as he acknowledges they have a load of talent and failing to make a deep run would be disappointing.

Tom Brady, a six-time Super Bowl champion, left the New England Patriots after 19 seasons to sign the Buccaneers, who already had one of the most offensively gifted teams in the NFL. Rob Gronkowski, a three-time Super Bowl champion who retired after the 2018 season, came out of retirement after only one season to join Brady in Tampa Bay.

"It's gotta be the goal," Godwin told The NFL Today's Nate Burleson on CBS Sunday. "If you're not thinking like that, I think you're in the wrong profession. That's what we're going for.

Obviously, we've got Tom (Brady), we've got Gronk, we've got myself, Mike (Evans) ... we've got a load of talent. The Super Bowl is in Tampa, there's no reason why we shouldn't be striving for that."

Godwin admits he was a bit starstruck by Brady

"It was a little weird at first, I'm not going to lie," Godwin said of catching his first pass from Brady. "He's Tom Brady, he's got six rings, and one of the greatest of all time.

You come out of the break and the ball is right where it's supposed to be. I'm like 'Man, I don't know what people are talking about. This ball's on the money.' Then, it kept being on the money and kept being on the money.

I'm like 'Alright, I'm going to let everyone else do all the talking. I know what's on the horizon.' " Just over a week ago, Brady admitted learning a new playbook was tough. "It's been different having the opportunity over this time to move and to, for example, study my playbook -- I mean I really haven't had to do that in 19 years, so you forget, 'Man, that's really tough,' like all of the different terminologies," Brady said, as quoted on ESPN.

"You're going back a very long time in my career to really have to put the mental energy in like I did. I have to work at it pretty hard physically, still. I put a lot of time and energy into making sure I'm feeling good in order to perform at my best, but mentally I think that's been the thing that's obviously had its challenges."
