There was a recent development that has fans on the edge because the Kansas City Chiefs have reported a surprise addition to the team's injury roster on Thursday. It included wide receiver Rashee Rice in the altercation, which came during a key workout and brings with it at least a hint of distress for the Chiefs as they prepare for their last session on Friday before the heavily hyped Super Bowl game against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

With the Chiefs already having started to wade through the series of player recoveries, the return of wide receivers Kadarius Toney and Skyy Moore was always going to be a lift to their offense. The latest news, though, is something of a blow, with offensive lineman Joe Thuney added to the injury list ahead of the coming game.

Rice's Sudden Injury

The abruptness of the injury to Rice was that it wasn't in the report on Wednesday. It was to his ankle. The point of concern for this has turned to the significance of the injury for the team and the fans.

According to Patrick K. Flowers of Bleacher Report, the injury occurred Wednesday after Rice was stepped on during a break in the action and needed immediate medical attention. However, the fans would have to an extent been given some solace in the words of Head Coach Andy Reid, who said after the incident that Rice was "OK" after the medical attention.

This, especially due to the instrumental offensive role played by Rice in the lineup of the Chiefs, is some news. Having developed as one of Patrick Mahomes' go-to hands, the spot in which Rice has played is not central just through the season but also has extended up to the playoffs in which he stands as the second leading receiver.

"And now, the Chiefs and their fans hold their collective breath, as all eyes turn to Friday's practice, which will largely determine Rice's status for the Super Bowl. The team and its many fans are now banking on some dramatic recovery by Rice to feature in what promises to be an epic showdown.
