Former Los Angeles Rams quarterback, Sean Mannion, has officially announced his retirement from the NFL after nine successful seasons. ESPN's Brady Henderson reported this significant development in Mannion's career. Mannion's retirement marks a transition from wearing cleats to donning a headset, as he embarks on a new chapter in football by joining the Green Bay Packers' coaching staff.

Although the exact title of his role is yet to be disclosed, it is confirmed that Mannion will be working closely with the Packers' quarterbacks and passing game. Many football insiders have long seen coaching potential in Mannion due to his exceptional intelligence and deep understanding of the game.

This opportunity in Green Bay reflects the beginning of his coaching journey after his stint on the Seattle Seahawks' practice squad last season.

Early NFL Career

Mannion's NFL journey began when the Los Angeles Rams selected him in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

During his time with the Rams, he played sparingly, appearing in only 10 regular season games and making a single start. Subsequently, Mannion embarked on a journey that took him to the Minnesota Vikings and the Seattle Seahawks after leaving Los Angeles in 2019.

Despite never playing a regular season game for the Seahawks, he had three separate stints with the team. Most recently, he spent the final month of the 2023 season on the Seahawks' practice squad. At the age of 31, Mannion leaves behind an impressive legacy, not only in the NFL but also as the all-time passing leader at Oregon State, where he amassed an impressive 13,600 passing yards during his illustrious four-year college career.

Mannion's retirement marks a significant shift in his football career, as he transitions from being a player to a coach, where his intelligence and passion for the game are expected to shine through in his role with the Green Bay Packers.

Football fans and enthusiasts will be eagerly watching his journey in coaching, wishing him success in this new endeavor.
