New York Jets safety Jamal Adams has unloaded on his coach as he believes Adam Gase is "not a leader" and someone who can lead the team to winning a Super Bowl. Adams, the sixth overall pick of the 2017 NFL draft, has been one of the best players on his position since entering the league but he has made it clear several times over the past few months that he is not a fan of some things are done by the Jets organization.
Adams, who is coming off back-to-back Pro Bowl appearances, has requested a trade from the Jets and the team is listening offers for the star safety. "I don’t feel like he’s the right leader for this organization to reach the Promised Land,” Adams told the NY Daily News.
“As a leader, what really bothers me is that he doesn’t have a relationship with everybody in the building. “At the end of the day, he doesn’t address the team,” Adams added. “If there’s a problem in the locker room, he lets another coach address the team.
If we’re playing sh---y and we’re losing, he doesn’t address the entire team as a group at halftime. He’ll walk out of the locker room and let another coach handle it”.
Adams has no respect for dishonesty
Reportedly, the Jets promised Adams they would construct a new deal this offseason but when time came to get something done the team backed down.
That made Adams furious and just added more to the already strained relationship between the safety and the Jets. In February, Jets General Manager Joe Douglas said he wanted Adams to be a "Jet for life." "If they would have just simply said, ‘You know what, Jamal — we’re not going to look to pay you this year, we want to keep adding players — I would have respected that more,” Adams said.
“I would say, ‘You know what? I respect it. As a man, I get it. I understand it’s a business.’ But for them to tell me that they’re going to pay me and then not send over a proposal after they said that’s what they were going to, that’s where we go wrong.
And then for you to ignore me, that’s why I have a problem”. It remains to be seen if Adams will have a new team before the new season starts.
